Sweet tooths, take note: a unique cake store has just settled into Sacramento’s Loehmann’s Plaza. Nothing Bundt Cakes, which has franchises all over the country, offers an array of – what else? – bundt cakes that are baked fresh daily using “real eggs, real butter, and real cream cheese.” The cakes are available in several sizes – from bite-sized “Bundtinis” and single serving “Bundtlets” to larger 8" and 10" cakes.
Flavors range from marble and cinnamon swirl to lemon and pecan praline, and while the products are disconcertingly similar in appearance (am I the only one who thinks that the cakes appear to be topped by a small white octopus?) they are undeniably moist and flavorful. I tried both the chocolate-chocolate chip and the red velvet cakes, and was impressed enough that I would happily pick one up in a pinch (I prefer to bake my own cakes) for a shower, dinner party or hostess gift.
(Interested in having your own Nothing Bundt Cakes franchise? According to the company’s website, the total initial investment necessary to begin operation of a store ranges from $361,754 to $412,076).
