Try It: Cafe Bernardo's Carrot Cake

It can be difficult for carrot cake purists to find a satisfying slice of their favorite dessert. I’m happy to report that Cafe Bernardo’s version – simple and (refreshingly) not too sweet - eschews unnecessary additions like pineapple chunks and raisins, which allows the delicate flavor of the carrot to shine. Slathered with a tangy cream cheese frosting and topped with pecans, this pretty cake (paired with a steaming cup of tea or coffee) is the perfect nosh on a blustery, grey afternoon. My advice? Share a slice with a friend and settle in for a nice, long chat.
