It’s always a pleasure to reach for a glass of Port on a chilly winter evening. I recently tasted a delicious version of this comforting, decadent quaff produced in nearby Acampo. Macchia Wines’ “Dangerous” 2009 Amador County Port is crafted from very ripe Zinfandel and Barbera grapes, and offers sweet, lush, jammy blackberry and raspberry flavors with captivating hints of candied violet and a mellow, perfumey finish. This yummy Port would be terrific with robust, aged cheeses after dinner, or even – if you really want to get naughty – an enticing selection of good chocolates.
