I visited Zinfandel Grille recently on a scorching Sacramento afternoon, so knocked out from the heat that I wasn’t sure I could eat anything. But two of the kitchen’s seafood appetizers soon revived me. The flavorful, pretty Thai-grilled prawn wraps had a refreshing Asian green apple slaw, enlivened with wasabi vinaigrette, which cradled the warm crustaceans; and the calamari – served up with a snappy cocktail sauce and lemony aioli – was irresistibly light and non-greasy. Service was prompt, and the restaurant was packed – clearly the heat isn’t keeping customers away from this popular Fair Oaks Boulevard restaurant, which has been serving up tasty pizzas, salads, seafood and cocktails for more than 25 years.
