Peaches (and Nectarines and Plums): Get ’Em Before They’re Gone

Posted on September 2, 2013

It’s that special time at the farmers’ market, when summer is transitioning into fall - and for a few short glorious weeks, shoppers will find an exciting mix of produce: some that’s being newly harvested, and some that is coming to the end of its season. Right now, visitors to the farmers’ market will still find marvelous berries, melons and late-summer stone fruit such as peaches and plums sharing table space with fall pomegranates, pears and apples – a colorful, delicious bounty of regional agriculture. So now’s the time to run out to your local farmers’ market and snatch up the last of the summer produce before it’s all gone for the year.
