Need a Salad in a Hurry? Go to Selland’s

Posted on July 8

Selland’s Market-Café in East Sacramento offers a raft of wonderful menu items, but lately I’ve been relishing the establishment’s first-rate salads. Pre-dressed, packed up and ready to go, the selections range from a hefty turkey Cobb, embellished with ripe tomato, blue cheese, bacon, avocado and hard-boiled egg; to a sophisticated roasted salmon and quinoa salad, enlivened with a light lemon vinaigrette. This weekend I tried the kitchen’s popular shrimp Louie and heart of romaine salad, doused with a tasty thousand island dressing and dotted with crispy cucumber slices, tomatoes and hard-boiled egg. These salads are a great option for an impromptu picnic or dinner party, and are a healthy, fast menu item for folks on a time-crunched lunch. My advice? Top the salad off with one of Sellands’ dreamy salted caramel sandwich cookies.
