Placer County Wines Shine at the State Fair Wine Competition

Local wines just keep getting better.

This year’s California State Fair Commercial Wine Competition handed out an impressive 52 awards to a group of 12 Placer County wineries, ranging from a Best of California honor and 10 Best of Class of Region awards to 41 gold, silver and bronze medals.

Home to 20 wineries, the Placer County Wine Trail runs from Lincoln to Loomis and up to Newcastle and Auburn. Wineries honored in the competition this year included Vina Castellano (which won Best of California, Best of Class of Region, and double gold) Lone Buffalo Vineyards (gold medal) and Wise Villa Winery (Best of Class of Region).
