I recently discovered two super-tasty sandwiches from Fins Market & Grill, located on Fair Oaks Boulevard. The grilled Mahi Mahi sandwich, composed on a tangy “sourwheat” walnut bread, was dazzling in its simplicity – featuring just the juicy slabs of moist fish and a slathering of the restaurant’s chunky, zingy tartar sauce, the sandwich was a great showcase for the clean, fresh flavors of the Mahi Mahi. And a wonderfully tender fried calamari sandwich – prepared just as simply on sourdough bread – won rave reviews from my picky 16 year old, who declared it one of the best sandwiches he’d ever tasted. This friendly little market (with two other locations in Fair Oaks and Roseville) also offers its customers an array of fresh (raw) fish to pick up and take home – from live lobsters and Dungeness crabs to salmon, halibut and opakapaka.
