Craving fresh, locally harvested veggies, eggs and meat on a Saturday morning? Now there’s a delightful alternative to the midtown farmers market—East Sac has its very own farmers market, and it’s located smack-dab in bucolic McKinley Park. The market, which offers a surprisingly diverse selection of goods, runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, and is located at 35th Street and Park Way. The morning I visited, it was thronged with runners, parents with strollers, and dog walkers from the neighborhood who had all spied the activity and had drifted over to investigate what all the fuss was about. Not only was there a great selection of produce, I saw fresh bakery products and fish, coffee, ghee, mushrooms and even granola. And maybe the best part about this particular market is that it’s located among lots of beautiful tall trees, which provide ample shade for shoppers—a real boon on a scorching hot morning.
