The Eastern Star Ballroom is one of the great treasures of Sacramento. It's got a fantastic dance floor that's spring-loaded in the old-fashioned style of the 1940s. It’s also a time capsule, featuring gorgeous architecture and ornamentation of a bygone era. You’ll feel like you're walking into big band heaven the moment you enter. A fund raiser to help restore the location will be held April 28, featuring two exciting bands with proceeds going to the restoration of the temple and the ballroom. Featuring local favorites Mumbo Gumbo and The FreeBadge Serenaders, with emceeing to be done by the inimitable Matias Bombal, the event should be a daddy of a good time and a throwback to the old days of yore.

What: Fundraiser for the Eastern Star Ballroom
When: April 28, 7:30 p.m.
Where: 2719 K St., midtown
Cost: $25 in advance, $30 at the door
