Take a short day trip to the Capay Valley and enjoy one of the region’s best bounties: almonds. The 2013 Capay Valley Almond Festival is happening this Sunday, Feb. 24. The five-town festival takes place in Brooks, Capay, Esparto, Guinda and Rumsey. The 21-mile route runs along Highway 16 and each town hosts a bevy of activities, including a car show, arts and crafts, wine tasting, food and more. Check out capayvalleyalmondfestival.com to find out where and when things are happening—because there is a lot happening, including the chance to enter your baby in the “Fastest Little Nut Diaper Derby.” An added benefit to holding the festival this time of year as opposed to the fall: the chance to see beautiful almond blossoms in bloom.
