Last year I was introduced, by way of a fun press release, to local artist Ronald Walker. Walker, an elementary school art teacher, and a fellow artist colleague, held an art exhibit at Mesa Verde High School, and in lieu of the wine that is normally served at art show receptions, they were serving root beer floats. Intrigued by the artwork Walker sent me via email and pleasantly amused by the root beer float concept, I attended the reception and enjoyed an evening of fun art. (Though regrettably I passed on the float.)
Well, Walker has another exhibit this month featuring 15 of his paintings. This time the exhibit is at the Fe Gallery, located at 1100 65th St. (corner of Elvas Avenue and 65th Street), in East Sacramento. The opening reception is Saturday, Feb. 9 (Second Saturday) from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
I have not gotten word of any root beer floats at this reception, but chances are there will be wine.
