It’s the tail end of crab feed season again in our fair city. Still time to crack and slurp for a good cause. So bust out your Old Bay and your bibs and sidle up for some serious crustacean consumption.
Crockett-Deane Ballet Performance & Crab Feed—March 9, 6 p.m., Turn Verein, 3349 J St. $45
Enjoy pirouettes and pasta at the fifth annual crab feed to benefit the Crockett-Deane Ballet. $45 gets you crab with all the fixings as well as a ballet performance and fashion show. In addition, you can’t beat the Teutonic trappings of the Sacramento Turn Verein hall for a grand event.
Natomas Charter School’s 12th Annual Crab Feed—March 22, 5:30 p.m., Hellenic Center, 614 Alhambra Blvd. $55 in advance, $65 at the door
Benefiting the Performing & Fine Arts Academy at Natomas Charter School, this 12th annual crab feed features the best things about crab feeds: crab and beer (or wine if that’s your thing). Help support the arts students in Natomas, and get your fill of Dungeness crab.
Claws for Paws—March 2, 6 p.m., Rancho Cordova City Hall, 2729 Prospect Park Dr, $45
Benefiting the Sacramento County Animal Shelter, “Claws for Paws” features the standard crab feed fare, with a dessert auction to follow. Proceeds will help out our furry and feathery friends. Tickets can be purchased at the County Animal Shelter or at Western Feed & Supply Stores.
Mather Golf Course Crab Feed—March 23, 6 p.m., Mather Golf Course, Rancho Cordova. $35 in advance, $40 at the door
Benefiting the Greater Sacramento Area Region for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, this crab fest will be a tribute to the late Rene Mondine, who was in charge of Jr. Camp at Mather, helping teach youngsters the fundamentals of golf. Rene had also been a coach for the golf team at Sacramento State for 17 years.
Firefighters Burn Institute Crab Feed 2013—March 2, 6 p.m., St. John Vianney Parish, 10497 Coloma Rd., Rancho Cordova. $45
With fresh crab and brews from American River Brewing Company, you can’t miss with this feed. Benefiting the Firefighters Burn Institute, it’s a worthy cause and a great evening of food and entertainment.
Del Campo High School 29th Annual Boosters Crab Feed—March 2, 5:30 p.m., La Sierra Community Center, 5325 Engle Rd, Carmichael. $40–$50
For alumni and students and those who just like their dinner from the ocean, come on out to help the Del Campo High School Boosters at their 29th annual crab feed.
