These days it seems like it's a beer's world, and we're just living in it. It's hard to miss all the beer events popping up in the region during the past few years. Now that the yeasty beverage has seen a meteoric rise in popularity, taking it out of men's garage refrigerators and putting it in the hands of trendsetters, practically everyone can rattle off the names of a few craft beers or microbreweries they love. Davis is getting in on the action this year with Beer Week, and they are wrapping up the boozy celebration with the Davis Bike and Brew Fest. More than 50 breweries and 10 wineries will converge on Central Park to offer unlimited samplings of their products, including California heavy hitters like Sierra Nevada, Lagunitas and Berryessa alongside local upstarts Track 7 and New Helvetia. Local food vendors and food trucks will also be on site to keep those stomachs from soaking up too much alcohol. Considering that this is the Bike and Beer Fest, attendees are encouraged to cycle to the event. All of the money raised will benefit the Davis United States Bicycling Hall of Fame. Children are more than welcome to attend, too—with the food and live music and a special Kids Zone, it's a family-friendly atmosphere. Think of it as a giant Davis block party with really, really good drinks.
