I don't know if it's because of a steady diet of Disney movies or if it's just a result of living in a country that founded itself on anti-monarchy politics, but man, American girls love princesses. We can't get enough of them. How many princess-themed birthday parties did I go to as a kid? Not to mention I'm basically named after a princess. It's a princess world, and we're all just living in it.
OK, so a heightened awareness of gender politics has been leading us away from the princess-mania these days, which is definitely a good thing, but there's nothing wrong with still indulging in a little royal fun now and then. Fairytale Town is offering a Princess Academy for children ages 5-8, which gives princesses a crash course in etiquette, proper attire and social skills. It's a smart move on Fairytale Town's part—no offense to the little princesses out there, but there's often some room for improvement in the manners department when it comes to those claiming royal blood. Children attending the academy will be treated to snacks and a tea party. Preregistration is highly recommended as there is no registration the day of the event. For more information, click here.
