Sacramento Speakers Series: Admiral Michael Mullen

At ease. But keep an open ear when Michael Mullen, a retired U.S. Navy admiral, appears as part of the Sacramento Speakers Series on Jan.7 at 8 p.m. at the Community Center Theater.

Mullen was the highest-ranking officer in the U.S. Armed Forces from Oct. 1, 2007 to Sept. 30, 2011, when he served as the 17th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. As such, he was the principal military adviser to the president, the Secretary of Defense, the National Security Council and the Homeland Security Council. Talk about an admirable admiral!
