I Heart Katrina’s

Posted on May 27

I moved to Sacramento in 1996, and over the years as I have written about hundreds of regional food establishments, a few have become firmly entrenched in my heart. Katrina’s Café in Auburn is one of my absolute, enduring favorites—this warm, bustling, family-owned breakfast/lunch spot has never failed to deliver first-rate, friendly service and fabulous, generously portioned menu items. There has been more than one occasion when I have woken early on a weekend morning suddenly obsessed with the thought of devouring a plateful of Katrina’s lemon yogurt pancakes, an Avocado Delight omelet or the kitchen’s rustic, rib-sticking corned beef hash—and gathered together my sleepy family for the 30-minute drive to Auburn. There’s always a line at Katrina’s, and it’s always well worth it. This teeny eatery is one of the Sacramento region’s culinary treasures. (Note: Katrina’s is a cash-only establishment).
