26th Annual Hoes Down Harvest Festival on Oct. 5

Posted on September 25

Families, foodies and supporters of our region’s small family farmers should mark their calendars: The 26th Annual Hoes Down Harvest Festival occurs on Oct. 5.

This festive all-day celebration of the harvest season, hosted at Capay Valley’s Full Belly Farm, offers visitors an exciting opportunity to experience rural life on an organic family farm. Interested learning how to shear sheep, make goat cheese, milk a cow or shoe a horse? The event offers a wonderful lineup of agricultural workshops, covering those subjects and many more. Join in a farm tour, jump on a hayride and revel in the abundant food and live music at this beloved annual bash, which also offers craft booths and a bountiful farmers’ market. Kids have their very own area where they have the opportunity to work on arts and crafts projects, carve pumpkins, pet farm animals and clamber on a huge hay fort. There’s even a water roller coaster with dunking tank; and mini-cooks can practice churning ice cream.

The Hoes Down is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and tickets cost $20 when purchased online, or $25 at the gate. Tickets for children 2-12 are $5, and children under two are free. For more details or to purchase tickets online, go to the Hoes Down Festival website.
