Agricultural Treasure Trove: Pedrick Produce

Posted on July 31

It’s easy to blaze down Highway 80, past Davis on your way to the Bay Area and beyond. But if you love fresh produce, it’s well worth your while to carve out 10 minutes from your trip to make a stop in the small  town of Dixon, which houses one of the region’s genuine foodie treasures. Pedrick Produce, housed in a distinctive Quonset hut directly off the freeway, is bursting at the seams with a dizzying array of locally-plucked produce, from sun-ripened plums and corn to multi-colored bell peppers, juicy tomatoes and fat, heavy melons. But it doesn’t stop there – the store also has a plethora of nuts, dried fruits, hot sauces, olives, preserves, and even fresh-baked pies (which sell out like hot cakes on the weekends). If you can’t get out to your neighborhood farmers’ market, Pedrick Produce is an excellent (and drool-worthy) alternative.
