I thought I had seen it all at the marvelous downtown Sunday farmers’ market (did you know that, in addition to produce, you can buy fresh fish, beef, pork and poultry, eggs, cheese and olive oil – all from local producers?) but this past weekend I discovered a booth for Redwood Seeds, an independent vegetable and herb seed farm located in the Lassen foothills of Northern California. Redwood Seeds provide seeds that are suitable to grow in the region's three main sub-climates (Valley/Foothill, Coastal and Mountain), and their seeds (which are all planted, harvested and cleaned by hand) are 100 percent certified organic. If you’re a home gardener (or organic farmer) this is a great resource.
The downtown Sunday farmers’ market occurs from 8 a.m. to noon, year-round, in the State parking lot (under the freeway) at 8th and W streets.
