Historic Magazine Exhibit
Jun 15, 2013 to Jul 31, 2013
9:00 am until 5:00 pm
This event occurs daily, every 1 day(s).
California Loan & Jewelry fondly remembers the glory days of magazines and is celebrating their history with a display of first-issue magazines rarely seen in one place. The display opens June 15 and will be open to the public during regular business hours through July 31.
The display includes two dozen of the most popular consumer magazines of the last 90 years, from Newsweek and Time to People and Reader's Digest.
One of the highlights of the show is the premiere issue of the iconic men's magazine, Playboy. Published in December, 1953 the magazine with a young actress named Marilyn Monroe on the cover sold for 50 cents. Today, it is worth $4,000 or more -- depending on its condition.
