The Consilience of Art and Science 2014

The Pence Gallery and the UC Davis Art/Science Fusion Program present the 3rd juried biannual exhibition titled The Consilience of Art & Science. The exhibit extends from January 10 – February 28, and includes art in all media that explores the intersection between art and science; foster communications between the arts and sciences; and sparks new ways of viewing the world. A reception will be held on Friday, January 10, from 7-9 PM, with awards given out by the jurors at 8 PM.
This year’s jurors were Chris Daubert, Professor of Art from Sacramento City College and installation artist, and Anna Davidson, PhD candidate in Plant Biology, and bioartist. The exhibit includes work by artists Krista Anandakuttan, Carol Bernard, Larry Bryson, David Cordes, Hedi Desuyo, Helen Donis-Keller, Donna Fanara, Andries Fourie, James Gouldthorpe, Sarah Anne Graham, Rosemary Hall, Ann Holsberry, Lisa Jetonne, Franki Kohler, Rob Kolhouse, Goran Konjevod, Amanda Larson, Mikko Lautamo, Mike McHaney, Michael Radin, Emily Schleiner, Charlie Schneider, Jenise Toney, Alessandro Tulisso, Randy Won, and Suze Woolf.
Jurors’ Talk with Chris Daubert & Anna Davidson: January 10, 5-6 PM (FREE)
Both jurors will lead visitors in a gallery talk on common themes present in the exhibit, and the challenging nature of jurying, on Jan. 10 from 5-6 PM. This talk is FREE and no RSVP is necessary.
