 n California Cuisine\, Agriculture and Family Fun\, Venerable “Capay Valle
 y Almond Festival” is Sunday\, February 24 </p>\n			<p>\n				Esparto\, Cal
 if. - For nearly 100 years\, the annual Capay Valley Almond Festival has s
 howcased the charming Northern California region of Esparto and the Capay 
 Valley. Collectively hosted by the communities of Rumsey\, Guinda\, Brooks
 \, Capay and Esparto along bucolic Highway 16\, this one-of-a-kind regiona
 l festival traverses a 21-mile route\, with each location offering differe
 nt activities and unique atmosphere. This year’s Almond Festival is schedu
 led for Sunday\, February 24th 2013. </p>\n			<p>\n				Early spring in the
  Capay Valley is one of the best times to experience the area’s distinct b
 eauty. The almond blossoms begin to flower in February and continue throug
 h March\, creating a stunning backdrop for the event’s numerous activities
 . To help navigate\, the “Blossom Trail Map” was developed to provide a vi

 -style-type:none\;'><li>\n					<p>\n						-  Kick things off with the “Alm
 ond Queen” dinner and help inaugurate the newly crowned event queen on Sat
 urday\, February 16th at the historic Western Yolo Grange and is co- spons
 ored by Rumsey Improvement Association and the Western Yolo Grange. </p>\n
 				</li>\n				<li>\n					<p>\n						-  Participate in a 10K Fun Run spons
 ored by the Esparto Unified School District. This race is on Saturday\, Fe
 bruary 23. Applications are available at espartok12.org. </p>\n				</li>\n
 				<li>\n					<p>\n						-  Join in the Almond Festival Golf Tournament a
 t Yocha Dehe Golf Club on Saturday\, February 23. Tournament info at yocha

 rough the Blossom Trail as you visit each of the five locations. As always
 \, the festival will feature family-friendly fun\, food and a variety of a
 rts\, crafts\, local products and produce. Start off at either end of the 
 valley with a homemade breakfast\; whether you choose traditional pancakes
  or breakfast pizza. Or submit your mouth-watering almond recipes for cons

 		-  Enter your baby in the Diaper Derby. Maybe yours is the “Fastest Litt

 the Guinda Grange Nibble on “Granny Wyatt’s Legendary Almond Roca” and fam
 ous homemade baked goods while on a hayride across the historic Rumsey Bri

 e actually harvested\, from shaking to sweeping\, and experience the rich\
 , significant agricultural history of the area. </p>\n				</li>\n				<li>

 ng for everyone: a car show\, festival rides\, BBQ and festival food\, loc
 al wine tasting\, beer and margarita garden\, live music and dancing in fi
 ve locations\, library book sale\, farmers market\, petting zoo\, wool spi
 nning demos and a blacksmith working his craft. Delicious festival food th
