\n\n In this exhibition\, Reinertson explores o ur relationship with the animal world\, driven by her awareness of the cri sis of so many animals on the verge of extinction. Human figures are port rayed in relation with animals\, such as a bear\, wolf or gorilla\, remind ing us that under our manmade world is the primal natural world that susta ins and supports us. Exploring the meanings behind the associations we at tach to animals\, Reinertson’s animals are intimately attached to the huma n presence they define. Resonating in myth and poetry\, her sculptures exp ress an awareness of our responsibility of stewardship for life on this ea rth\, which is ultimately interlinked with our own survival.
\n\n Re inertson’s work has been featured in exhibitions and museums both national ly and internationally\, including the Crocker Art Museum\, Oakland Museum \, Arizona State University Art Museum\, and the International Museum of C eramics in Faenza\, Italy. Reinertson completed her master’s degree in fin e art at UC Davis\, studying with Robert Arneson and Manuel Neri. \n\n The Sevier Oroge ny is a mountain-forming event that affected North America along the weste rn slope of the Rocky Mountains during the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods . Sevier refers to the Sevier River\, whose headwaters originate in the Zi on National Park region. Millions of years of tectonic action\, erosion of carving rivers\, volcanic episodes\, and glacial scraping have created th ese fascinating surreal landscapes. &ldquo\;This body of work\,&rdquo\; sa ys photographer Ron Williams\, &ldquo\;focuses on the hidden beauty in clo se-ups of textures in the geologic detail.&rdquo\; Very little photo manip ulation was applied to these images shot along Highway 9 just east of the Mt. Carmel Tunnel in Zion National Park.

\n\n As Bencze explains\, mining companies get a bad rap in the press. No one wants a mine in their back yard. On the other hand everyone wants computers\, TV sets\, cars\, cameras\, washing machine s\, cell phones and all the other good stuff of modern culture. And just a bout all of that good stuff begins life somewhere in the ground.
\nThe people of mining work hard\, safe\, and honorably taking pains to cau se as little damage to the environment as possible and remediating that wh ich is inevitable. I have enjoyed my assignments onsite and have come to a dmire these dedicated workers\, craftsmen\, and artisans who transform dir t into the raw material of civilization.
\n\n Mines are busy and dan gerous places which is why they do not allow casual visitors. But when I&r squo\;m on assignment I can photograph just about anything I please. That& rsquo\;s when I see that concern for the environment is more than a bare b ones reaction to legal demands. Returning land to a natural state requires not only science but also a measure of artistry. Sometimes the reclaimed land looks more like earth art by Andy Goldsworthy than a former mine site . Fail safe systems for preventing spills and accidents also tend to make for interesting pictures. I hope the images in this exhibition illuminate a mysterious world that is often misunderstood.
\n\n Bio: Laszlo Ben cze established a reputation in the Pacific Northwest as a top ranked phot ographer of industry over the past forty years. He moved to the Sacramento area in 2009 and continues his world travels for major American companies . He has had one-man shows at the Camerawork Gallery in Portland and the U niversity of Portland. He has presented photography workshops and seminars in Anchorage\, Portland and Seattle. Currently he teaches "\;The Art of Seeing"\; at Viewpoint Photographic Art Center.

ung adult\, Vignola studied at the Cultural Arts Center of Long Island and
went on to enjoy an enormous amount of sideman gigs in the 1980s includin
g recording and touring with the likes of Madonna\, Leon Redbone\, Ringo S
tarr as well as coming into his own as a leader in 1988 with his famed Hot
Club of France tribute which was hailed in the NY Times as one of the top
ten acts in New York City in 1988 and forged the way for the many Django
Hot Club groups that followed. The New Yorker was 27 when\, in 1993\, he s
igned with Concord Jazz and recorded his first Concord session as a leader
\, Appel Direct. Many more Concord releases followed in the 1990s as well
as 3 releases for the Telarc label as co-leader of the group Travelin' Lig
ht. The early 2000's found Vignola recording a solo guitar CD for Acoustic
Disc as well as performing regularly with guitarist\, Les Paul. This also
marked the time that Frank began working with record producer Joel Dorn a
s well as making featured appearances on Atlantic\, Sony and Warner Brothe
rs Records with the likes of Donald Fagen\, Queen Latifah\, Mark O Connor
and Wynton Marsalis. He also recorded a collection of Gershwin pieces for
Mel Bay Records titled\, 'Vignola Plays Gershwin' which was number 2 in NP
R radio airplay charts. In recent years\, Vignola has recorded two importa
nt collaborative CD's\, 'Just Between Frets' with Tommy Emmanuel on Solid
Air Records and 'Frank-N-Dawg\, Melody Monsters' with mandolinist David Gr
isman on Acoustic Disc Records.

\n The Kaufman family learned that while a child is in the hospita l there is no sense of normal. Children especially need to have some sens e of normalcy to help them in their recovery process. Angels for Hearts i s founded on the idea of making sure that pediatric heart patients (ages 0 -17) keep some sense of normalcy of being a kid even when they have pediat ric heart issues and grow up in a hospital setting.
\n\n On Saturday \, August 3rd\, 2013\, Angels for Hearts\, in conjunction with the Childre n’s Miracle Network at UC Davis Children’s Hospital will hold its 5th Annu al “When I Grow Up…” Event. The event will be located at the UC Davis Mi nd Institute from 11:00am to 2:00pm. The Mind Institute is located at 2825 50th Street\, Sacramento\, CA 95817\; on the campus of the UCD Medical Ce nter. This event will enable pediatric heart patients to experience meetin g and talking face to face with the professionals they dream about being w hen they grow up. The children will be able to enjoy meeting fireman\, pol icemen\, doctors\, nurses\, chefs\, pilots\, athletes\, political leaders and other role models. Angels for Hearts goal is to help the heart kids r emember that their dreams are only limited by their imaginations. We want to help these children to remember that first and foremost they are kids before they are heart kids.
\n\n Our event 'When I Grow Up...' is f or families that have a child ages 0-17year old that has a heart issue. We invite the entire family\, the heart kids\, siblings and parents/guardian s to come and just enjoy a day as a family. For many heart families our ev ents are the only times where they are with other families that have kids with the same medical issue. For some families it may be the first time th eir heart child or the sibling has ever met another heart child or sibling of a heart child.
